Below are a couple of photo's of the top fruit cage; we actually didn't have to do too much here, other than a few large weeds.
Here is the long, top bed which required quite a bit of remedial treatment to the boards as well as weeding.
Here is the second bed down from the top, next to the top fruit cage. Again, we have improved the paths between the beds.
We haven't done all of the paths (no chippings) but the paths we have done look a hundred times better.
We've planted a bed of onions.
This is looking towards the large fruit cage. The paths here have also been improved.
This is the rhubarb bed, incorporating the broad beans this year. Below this is a photo from near the broad beans but looking upwards across the plot, with the corner of the fruit cage showing top left.
Here are the bottom two beds showing the artichokes close to the cemetery wall.
Looking from the bottom corner of the plot towards both fruit cages and over the rhubarb.
This is a photo of the artichokes, next to some newly planted "wild" foxgloves.
A better view of the "wild" foxgloves, which self-seeded further up the allotment, but rather than throw them away we have relocated them. We have actually planted five small plants together as one.
Next, a couple of shots of the "Wild flower" bed next to the eating area.
A picture of the Goji Berry against the cemetery wall where it thrives magnificently until Auust when, every year, it mysteriously withers!!
Tulip and daffodil bulbs flowering near the rhubarb.
The larger fruit cage which we have just weeded but not done any other maintenace yet.
The vine and the clematis are just starting to shoot. Soon you won't be able to tell that there is a shed there.
The eating area after cleaning the slabs a bit. Notice the bulbs at the back. They seem to increase in number every year.
Here is the new carrot bed and the broad beans.........
..............and we've just planted some shallots.
The blueberry bath is looking okay.
Looking towards the compost bed. I still can't believe how everything eventually decomoses down to a lovely fine dark compost.
So, an enormous improvement on two months ago. Just hope we have a decent summer.
