Popped down for a couple of hours to water and pick more produce. We've had nearly a fortnight of scorching weather, with no end in sight. Dug up the potatoes in one bed and cleared the tops of them in the other, but left the actual potatoes in the ground for now as we got nearly two bucketfuls of spuds from the remains of one bed. Noticed that the sweetcorns are producing flowers in their middles now.

Just went down for about 45mins to pick some fruit and veg and see what the state of everything is after the torrential downpours yesterday. The grape has gone beserk - we really need to chop it back to give the fruit a chance. Yacon is doing extremely well. No idea how it will turn out.
Finally, we actually seem to be on top of everything. The compost has been moved to free up one bin completely and all except one bed have been planted up; and that final bed was planted with leeks this afternoon.......... ......and surrounded by fleece to keep certain animals off the bed! Picked some more potatoes and soft fruit. Red gooseberries have finished now for the season. We have a new clock down there as well now. To finish, as we're pretty much up to date, a tour of the plot........
Spent half a day down the allotment today. Filled up the water butts and watered some of the beds; emptied one of the compost bins into another one to make room for fresh composting material and planted some leeks. Also pulled up the foxgloves in the wild garden bit as they were going to seed. Also weeded the last bed without any crops in so every bed is now either in use or ready for use. Grapevine definitely needs a trim.
Just popped down for an hour to pick some fruit and dug up some potatoes while we were there. Picked a couple of courgettes too.
Went down the allotment for about three hours today mainly to secure the fruit cage by stapling all around the base, but did a few odd jobs as well. The carrots are finally doing something. Trimmed back the asparagus. Cleared some of the comfrey. From this....... ......to this. Sweetcorn's looking good. Put a fleece around a second carrot bed. Wild flower garden's looking nice...... As well as a load more soft fruit, including the first blackberries, we picked about 5lbs of potatoes.
Just popped down for an hour or so to water and pick some fruit. We also picked a couple of pound of potatoes to have with pork chop and ratatouille for tea.
