We finally got round to picking the leeks. Not the best we've ever had but considering how late we are picking them they're petty good.
We brought down some bagged compost and manure to improve some of the soil structure.
We started off with the bed behind the carrot bed.
The blackberry runners we tied down in pots last autumn have taken well so we cut them free and have left them in their pots in the large fruit cage.
We weeded an added manure to the asparagus bed.
We added compost to the blueberry bath by the compost bin to improve it's structure and nutrients.
It might still be February but with the weather being so good - (the temperature is showing as 28*C but that is in a direct sunlight and sheltered spot) - we brought the cooking stove down and had a bowl of soup with some bread for lunch. Absolutely delicious.
The blueberry bath in the upper fruit cage was very waterlogged so I think I may have to drill some holes near the base. Can't understand it as we covered the plughole with plenty of stones.
See the reflected fruit cage and the camera.
