Definitely a good weekends work.
Finished using the remainder of the scaffolding boards and also planted two new blackberry plants in the fruit cage. Tidied some of the edges up with some slightly decomposing chippings. Had Crispy Chilli Chicken Wraps for Sunday Lunch.
Definitely a good weekends work.

As we go away in a week we decided to go down and pick everything we can; especially as the weather has been dry and warm recently and is likely to change any day now. The photos below are the result.
Spent most of yesterday down the allotment and Stacey popped down too for about two and a half hours. We got a lot done including weeding and tidying and I also moved all of the contents of the third compost bin into the first bin, leaving a whole new empty bin to put material in.
We tidied up the large fruit cage ready for the winter and we tidied up the rhubarb and trimmed the celeriac. We picked all of the potatoes that were left down there and also picked almost ten pounds of tomatoes. We also topped up the water butts and fed and watered most of what what was left. Picked most of what was left of the blackberries and picked a couple of cucumbers. Went down the allotment for a couple of hours after work. Picked the onions and then weeded and dug the bed. The Yacon is pretty big now but only half the size we read it should be (Six feet) We also weeded the tomato and sweetcorn beds and cut the foliage off the tomatoes to let the sun get at them.
Went down for less than an hour just to pick what we could before the arrival of Hurricane Bertha; well, what was left of her after crossing the Atlantic, anyway. JUST beat the rain.....................
Rained all day yesterday (Saturday) so just popped down this morning to pick some produce - see pictures. Loads of blackcurrants but what was left of the blackberries had a lot of ants on them.
After pruning the grapevine rather drastically the grapes themselves have almost doubled in size. Popped down for a couple of hours to water and pick more produce. We've had nearly a fortnight of scorching weather, with no end in sight. Dug up the potatoes in one bed and cleared the tops of them in the other, but left the actual potatoes in the ground for now as we got nearly two bucketfuls of spuds from the remains of one bed. Noticed that the sweetcorns are producing flowers in their middles now.
Spent half a day down the allotment today. Filled up the water butts and watered some of the beds; emptied one of the compost bins into another one to make room for fresh composting material and planted some leeks. Also pulled up the foxgloves in the wild garden bit as they were going to seed. Also weeded the last bed without any crops in so every bed is now either in use or ready for use. Grapevine definitely needs a trim.
Just popped down for an hour to pick some fruit and dug up some potatoes while we were there. Picked a couple of courgettes too.
